Personalized Photo Purses

Personalized Photo PursesPersonally, I was extremely jealous of the dog lover handbags in the earlier post. My fur child is a German Shepherd/Husky/Springer Spaniel mix breed - Good Luck finding that breed on a purse of any kind! :)

Which is why I think this is a really unique gift for moms. Even if dogs aren’t your mom’s thing, I’m 100% positive that her heart will melt with a photo purse of you as a child, or even the grand children prominently displayed for all to see. This is one Mother’s Day gift that will have Mom or Grandma showing off their kids and grand-kids.

If you’re like me, choosing just one picture for the purse is going to be a really tough decision. Fortunately, these photo purses give you the ability to order additional panels giving the purse a whole new look.

The Perfect Gift for Mom - a Roomba!

Filed under: gift ideas, Mom, mother's day, gift, Mother's Day Gift Ideas — admin at 1:52 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2008

Imagine offering your Mom free vacuuming for life! This is the gift that keeps on giving. Your Mom will have more free time every week for years to come.

If your Mom is anything like my Mom, she’s probably only vaguely familiar with iRobot and the Roomba line of vacuum cleaners. No problem, I just bought a Roomba 530 for myself and another for Mom. I can tell you all about the Roomba line of vacuums and which are the easiest to use.

iRobot Roomba 400This is the Roomba 400. It’s $119.95 (but I’ll give you a link to a special offer at the bottom of this post). The Roomba 400 is the basic model. Even the basic model can do some remarkable stuff: it will automatically avoid drop-offs, automatically transitions from hard floors to carpet, and it has a large bagless bin. This model charges in about 7 hours. It’s considered a 2 room vacuum. It will automatically move around each room covering all floor space before moving to the next room. It comes with a 1 year warranty and a 30 money-back guarantee trial period.

iRobot Roomba 530

This is my Roomba, the iRobot Roomba 530 — I named mine Jumjum. He’s become a part of my family. The 530 is $299.99 - worth every penny, but check the link at the bottom for special offers. The 530 has an advanced cleaning system that can get right to the edge of walls and cleans floors and carpets a little better than the 400 series. But the real reasons I went with this model are: it charges in 3 hours instead of 7, it automatically senses when the battery is low and goes back to it’s base automatically - it self charges, it senses furniture and obstacles which make it slow down before bumping, the filter catches more dust and allergens, it has a spot clean button (put it on the dirty spot and press the button), and it doesn’t get stuck on carpet fringes and tassels. In addition it also comes with 2 ‘virtual walls’ - little things you set on the floor to create ‘off limit’ areas, and it’s a 3 room instead of 2 vacuum. Bonus for Moms everywhere: it has a voice walk-though demonstration built-in. Just tell Mom to press the button!

iRobot Roomba 560

This is the iRobot Roomba 560. It’s $50 more than the 530. It can do everything the 530 does, plus: it’s a 4 room vacuum, and you can set times (scheduling) for the vacuum to clean - have it clean after you leave the house or after you go to bed.

iRobot Roomba 570

This is the iRobot Roomba 570. It’s $50 more than the 560. It can do everything the 560 does, plus: it comes with a wireless command center - set scheduling and even remote control the vacuum wirelessly and an extra brush kit.

There ya go, you’re a Roomba expert! I love my 530 and couldn’t be happier. But if auto scheduling is important, or you have a very large house - the 560 or 570 might suit you better. If a wireless remote is important (no bending over to press buttons) then the 570 is the right one for you or your Mom.

Top 10 Mother’s Day Gifts

Filed under: Mother's Day Gift Ideas — admin at 9:48 pm on Tuesday, April 24, 2007

68 moms responded to our question: “What would you most like to get as a gift on Mother’s Day?” We didn’t accept “Love” as an answer. These are the 10 most requested material gifts mothers asked for:

#1 Choice, Flowers

Flowers - Flowers are an essential part of Mother’s Day. It doesn’t matter whether you pick wildflowers, grow flowers yourself, or buy them. Flowers will make your mom feel special on Mother’s Day.

Consider having flowers delivered. It’s an easy and convenient way to make mom happy. Plus the flowers will be delivered on Friday or Saturday before Mother’s Day - whichWorld's Talllest Roses makes Mom feel special all weekend long!

Quality roses from reliable florists can vary in price. Here are the 4 best prices we found from trusted flower shops for a dozen roses:

1. $36.75 2. $41.95 3. $44.95 4. $54.95

Click any of the above to visit the florists online. Surprisingly the best price we found is for 18 roses.

For a surprising and shocking reaction try sending your mom the World’s Tallest Roses! At $249.95 they are an expensive choice, but they are sure to create a memory that will last a lifetime.

If roses aren’t your mom’s thing, you might also consider a Mother’s Day bouquet.

#2 Choice, JewelleryJewelry - Mom’s love jewelry. Especially when a piece of jewelry comes with sentimental value, which anything her family gives her on Mother’s Day will.

Jewelry doesn’t have to break the bank. You can get this elegant Black Pearl Bracelet for only $55.  If your budget is more flexible, consider the classic gift of diamonds. I recommend you buy from a quality source.

If you’re constantly on the clip-on earring hunt like I am for my mom here are a couple good sources: Allergy-safe jewelry for nickel-sensitive skin and Clip-on earrings.

Many mom’s have difficulty putting on their own jewelery, I know my mom does. The new invention by Clever Clasp makes it a breeze. I was so impressed by it, I immediately bought my own mom one.

#3 Choice, Spa TreatmentsSpa Treatments - There’s nothing mom’s love and deserve more than being pampered. Plan a spa day with mom, or give her a gift certificate to a spa near her. If a spa day is out of your price range you may want to think about buying a home spa item. The spa items I found ranged wildley in price. A massaging bath pillow for only $29.95, a home electrolysis system for 89.95, and a detoxyfying foot spa for $249.

With a little research you can find the perfect home spa item for you and mom. Your wallet doesn’t have to suffer to give mom some pampering and she will feel refreshed, and absolutely love it.

#4 Choice, PerfumePerfume - I’ve never met a mom that doesn’t love perfume. The link between smell and memories is so strong that it can even trigger memories that are long forgotton.

My own mom wears Cinnabar by Estee Lauder and nothing makes me think of her faster than that scent. I like to buy perfumes online, I’ve found local stores (Malls, etc..) to be way too pricey.

Perfumes are timeless, and a gift your mom will love.

#5 Choice, ClothingClothing/Snugglies - When in doubt you can always count on mom’s girly side. From an new outfit to a snuggly warm blanket, you just can’t go wrong.

For shopping ideas think of mom’s personality, her likes, and dislikes. Is mom always cold in the car how about a thoughtful heated blanket. Does she love to tan, how about a tan-through shirt (these things are neat). Is mom into high fashion? How about couture clothing right off the runway (geared towards younger moms).

#6 Choice, Home & GardenHome & Garden - Many moms would prefer to receive plants & trees to a bouquet of flowers. If your mom loves working in her yard, then help make her hobby more fun. Give her a beautiful fountain, or any number of garden accents such as garden bridges, engraved garden rocks, or even one of the world famous Laaf figurines.

#7 Choice, Art.Artwork - Mom’s love things in frames. A framed family portrait or even an old childhood photo of you and mom can be turned into a heart-warming photo keepsake. You can even have photos enlarged and framed.

Is Mom an art buff? How about a beautiful print of classic paintings from Vincent van Gogh to special collection editions of Old Master, Impressionist, and Modern paintings.

#8 Choice, Gifts that Keep Coming!Send Love every Month - When we asked mom’s what they liked wines, chocolates, coffees, fruits and flowers were on the top of many of their lists.

Not everyone has the luxury of being able to be with mom on Mother’s Day. Although there’s no substitute for having you around, these monthly gifts will be a welcomed reminder that you love her and are thinking of her.

For wine lovers, I found a really cool gadget that keeps wine fresh. My mom’s not a big wine drinker but I just might have to get this for myself.

#9 Choice, Designer HandbagsDesigner Handbags - A quality handbag she can be proud of will serve her well for years to come. Knowing you gave it to her will make it even more special. Handbags are one of the many girly items that moms would love to have but won’t buy for themselves. Especially, couture handbags like Balenciaga, Prada, Fendi, JP Tods, Dolce & Gabbana, Moschino Jeans which range in price from $129.00 to $769.00 (ouch!).

Then there are the moms who love their pets and the only handbag for them are the dog & cat handbags. Dog & cat lover moms cannot get enough of these.

#10 Choice, ElectronicsElectronics - Some mom’s love those gadgets! Nearly every mom would value a digital camera to capture the warmest moments in her life. Not to mention the mind numbing tutorial every child is required to give their mom with these types of gifts. An affordable 12 megapixel camera sells for $89.99.

These are the Top 10 Mother’s Day Gifts. If you’ve been stuck on what to get, this should help. Remember: You know your Mom best, take her unique qualities into consideration whenever you decide on a gift. A personal touch to gift giving always generates the most happiness.

Happy Mother’s Day!
